Activities, Eats, & Drinks

The whole point of this weekend is to share the wonders of our fave place with our fave people. Well, and to legalize our union. But there’s time for both.

So pack your SPF, hydrate, and enjoy the wildlife…from a distance.

Activities

Biking

There is an incredible paved bike path system and tons of places to rent. It’s the best way to cover a lot of ground. You can bike from town to Wilson (and refuel at Rations or Street Food @ Stagecoach), to the resort, or even up into the park if you’re feeling ambitious. Maps here.

Hiking

Essential. AllTrails is a great resource. Some we love are below. The national park has incredible trails, but there are options closer to town as well. Hot tip: Jenny Lake is the busiest place in the park and therefore usually not worth it.

EMILY’S POND

A great intro walk close to town and the resort. It’s a flat and scenic loop along the Snake River, with views of the Tetons. Info

CACHE CREEK

A range of mellow hiking trails right near town. The trail can be accessed from the far southeast corner of town by following Cache Creek Dr. which eventually turns to a dirt road and there is a small parking before the true wilderness road begins. Get out of the way of mountain bikers here!

ROCKEFELLER PRESERVE CENTER

Popular, so better to go on a weekday and early-ish. There are a bunch of hikes depending how big you want to go. For a big one you can go up to and/or around Phelps Lake. Info

TWO OCEANS

6ish miles but not super hilly like others, so good for acclimating. It’s a drive deep into the park, but that’s all part of the experience. Celebrate the hike with a stop at Jackson Lake Lodge for huckleberry margaritas on the deck afterward.

BRADLEY/TAGGART LAKES

Stunning lakes. Not too far from the Moose entrance to the park. Different hike options here.

HIKING AT THE RESORT

If getting into the park is too much of a mission, another option is hiking and other activities at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. You can hike up to the Bridger Gondola or take it up and hike down. There are smaller hikes around the resort as well.

Water Sports

You can go scenic and relaxing or adventurous.

WHITE WATER RAFTING

Great to book with a group. We love booking with Sands. If this seems too adventurous, you could also do a scenic float on a more calm part of the river. Great for bird and wildlife watching.

STRING LAKE

Stunning lake in the park with Teton views. If you have a big car, you can rent paddle boards, a kayak, canoe. It’s also fun to hang with beach chairs at and hike around. Gets crowded, so go early for parking.

Eat & Drink

There are so many place to refuel after a big day of exploring. Here’s a taste of our faves.

THE BIRD

Local hangout for delicious burgers, wings, beers. We love it. Little bit out of town. Sit on the deck.

GLORIETTA TRATTORIA

Italian food but made with a Wyoming twist, amazing cocktails, and 12/10 vibes. Make a rezzy far in advance.

TETON THAI

Absurdly good Thai at the resort. Cute outdoor area. Great cocktails too.

SNAKERIVER GRILL

Classic JH institution. Fine dining with local fare.

LOCAL RESTAURANT & BAR

Great modern steakhouse with locally-raised beef, regional game, fresh seafood.

EVEREST MOMO SHACK

Delicious Nepalese food.

STREETFOOD AT THE STAGECOACH

Fun outdoor hangout (or divey inside) in Wilson with solid bar food, pitchers etc. Go during the day and hang outside after a big hike or bike!

COWBOY BAR

Prob the most turnt bar in town. Live music, gets packed.

SNAKERIVER BREWING

Fun brewery in town with outdoor games. Can get packed.

ROADHOUSE BREWING

Another good one in town, better food but not as cool of an outdoor area as SRB.

PISTE/THE DECK

Scenic place for drinks and apps at the resort. You ride the Gondola to the top and have an incredible view of the valley. This would be a fun activity to do before the Welcome Party, it’s at the same place.

PEARL STREET BAGELS

NY residents telling people to eat bagels in Wyoming. We know. But hear us out. They are fire. And the Wilson location has outdoor seating along a babbling creek. Local humans and wildlife alike love to hang at this spot.

PICNIC

Cafe with delish breakfast and lunch options and coffee/tea drinks.

PERSEPHONE

Fun brunch spot. Same owners as Picnic, the two Persephone locations are a bit cuter and the menu is similar.

KING SUSHI

This may be even more shocking and offensive than the bagel reco. But just trust us.

JACKSON HOLE WINERY

We’ve never been, but found it online while planning this wedding. Looks really cool and beautiful. You may have to pre-book a tasting.

Bonus: Victor, ID

For those feeling extra adventurous, Victor is not far from Jackson and a great choice for a day trip if you’re in town awhile. It’s more low-key and has a young, local vibe.

VICTOR EMPORIUM

The Huckleberry milkshakes are world-famous!!

GRAND TETON BREWING

It’s so fun to have a beer in their outdoor area and they have an amazing food truck too. Great way to spend post-hike recovery time.

BIKE PATH

There’s a fun bike path from Victor to Driggs. Easy, but you can add on to either end if you feel inspired.

GRAND TARGHEE RESORT

It has stunning views of the back side of the Tetons. You can take the chairlift up and hike down and celebrate with beers and brats at the bottom.

DARBY CANYON HIKE

If you’re up for an advanced hike, this one up into a wind tunnel cave is one of our all-time faves.

MUSIC ON MAIN

Free concert series in the summer. Info
